The new entries are:

  • Max. Tractive Effort (here 222kN)
  • Powered Wagons (here +2720hp, +50t)
  • Refittability

Max. Tractive Effort

Max. tractive effort (TE) refers to the maximum force the train engine can exert on the rails, that is, the maximum propulsive force. The more tractive effort an engine has, the heavier a train it can pull.

Typically, passenger trains will use an engine with a high top speed but relatively low tractive effort, whereas freight trains (especially with the freight trains switch) need a high TE engine, which will usually have a slightly smaller top speed.

Powered Wagons

Some engines may have powered wagons. This means that the train power comes not only from the engine, but also from (some of) the wagons.
