Recent changes to the Wiki

It turns out that the previous style of anchor tags for the header lines was not XHTML 1.0 compliant; <a name="..."> may not contain either "+" or "%" characters. So now all non-word character sequences simply become a single underscore. This also makes the anchors more readable, so it's all for the better.

I fixed all links which had "%28" in the anchor. In rare cases, the anchor may not have this character, so if you come across a link with a broken anchor, please fix it by replacing all non-word character sequences with one "_".

Thanks to the kind offer for hosting by Owen Rudge (Owner of the TT Forums), the TTDPatch wiki has moved to a new server. I'm sure you've already noticed it being substantially faster, and together with an upgrade to a newer version of TikiWiki, a lot of the old bugs are gone now too.

Due to the migration, some things might not work perfectly yet, please report these in the WikiDiscussion page or, if it's related to layout or other problems in the wiki pages themselves, simply fix them directly.

Note: If the layout looks broken now, you are likely using a cached version of the old CSS style sheet. Try to refresh the page and/or clearing your internet cache.

Due to some bug in either Apache or PHP, most pages cannot be edited at the moment. When you hit "preview" or "save", you'll get a bogus 403 error. I have no clue what's the problem, it's generated before even the first line of the PHP script is executed, so it looks like an internal error in Apache or PHP.

I've added a feature that generates <a id="foo"> tags for each "!"/"!!"/etc style heading. The ID is given by the text after "!" passed through the PHP urlencode() function. In particular, a space becomes "+", and "(" and ")" become "%28" and "%29", respectively.

This also allows external links to directly link to each heading, and using either [[Page#Heading]] or [[Page#Heading||Name]] links within the wiki are possible too. The automatic WikiWords link generator does not support anchors.

Because the Wiki kept being very slow at times, I've now implemented a simple page caching system.

If you'd like to know whether the page you see is fresh or cached, look at the bar at the bottom. If it says "Page generated in x seconds", the page is freshly generated, but if it says "Page displayed from cache" the page was cached.

If you're logged in, you will never see a cached page, because otherwise your preferences would not be taken into account. This means that for the fastest access to the wiki pages, you should log in only when you have to.

To bypass the cache (if you suspect it to be outdated), either log in or simply click on the "bypass" link at the end of this bar. If it turns out that the page was indeed outdated, you can force the cache to be invalidated by editing the SandBox (or any other page for that matter, though the SandBox is the best choice if you don't have any genuine changes to make).

I've turned off WikiWords, now all Wiki links must be given in double parentheses, [[like this]].
